Here are some meteor showers that are expected to be visible in 2025:

  • Perseid meteor shower

    This shower will be active from July 17 to August 24, 2025, with a peak rate of about 150 meteors per hour expected around August 12. The shower's radiant point is in the constellation Perseus, and from Mountain View, it will be circumpolar, meaning it will always be above the horizon.

  • Orionid meteor shower

    This shower will be active from October 2 to November 7, 2025, with a peak rate of meteors expected around October 21.

  • Delta Aquariid meteor shower

    This shower will be active from July 18 to August 21, 2025, with a predicted peak rate of 15 to 20 meteors per hour in a dark sky with no moon on July 30. The shower is best viewed from mid-evening to dawn, with the radiant rising in the mid-evening, peaking around 2 AM, and being low in the sky by dawn.

  • Lyrid meteor shower

    This shower will be active from April 15 to April 29, 2025, with a predicted peak time of 16 UTC on April 22. The shower is best viewed between midnight and dawn, with the radiant point rising in the northeast before midnight and being highest in the sky at dawn. Under ideal conditions, you might see 10 to 15 Lyrids per hour.

  • Quadrantid meteor shower

    This shower is expected to peak around 8 PM PST on January 3, 2025, so the best displays might be seen before dawn on January 3.
